Engelmanas: Victorious in Michigan!

Brooklyn, MI -- Heading into the running of the Conway Freight 100, Mike Husby had a large and very comfortable points lead of 164 over Brent Sweet and 171 points over 3rd place points holder Thomas Mohl Jr., with 11 races remaining, would any driver be able to capitalize in Michigan?

Tyler Ellery earned his first career THL Truck Series pole with a time of 39.430, barely beating Julian Madore who clocked in at 39.432. As a fun fact, the top 8 were separated by less than a tenth of a second, proving Michigan will be interesting.

As the first 20 laps would be clocked off, the drivers put on a hell of a show, as the top 6 would switch it up, three wide, four wide, wherever they could get a run, they would go. Pete Engelmanas would establish quiet but quick dominance during the first two fuel runs as he would lead 23 laps (most) on the night.

As green flag stops would approach almost everyone would hit pit road, however Pete Engelmanas and Thomas Mohl Jr. stayed out, trying to stretch as far as they could. Neither driver could make it to the end, setting up tire and fuel strategy for the final stop.

As Mohl Jr. came in, he opted to take no tires and fill 'er up, attempting to win his first race on the year, Julian Madore would be on the same strategy as they attempted to break away from the remainder of the field. They would pull away for 5 of the final 10 laps until Pete Engelmanas would get draft help from the lapped car of Wesley Hoag, allowing him to take over the lead.

With 3 laps remaining, Madore and Mohl would give it one last shot. Madore pushed Mohl Jr. down the backstretch giving him one of the best pushes on the evening. As Mohl Jr. went into the corner, he slid up as his older tires wouldn't allow him to grip the slick Michigan Speedway. Madore would slip by but would be unable to get by Engelmanas.

Pete takes his second win of the year at one of his favorite tracks, winning the Conway Freight 100 from MIS! Madore 2nd, Mohl Jr. 3rd, Tyler Ellery 4th and points leader Husby 5th.

Mike Husby now leads new 2nd place in points holder Thomas Mohl Jr. by 156 points and Brent Sweet by 173 points. The series heads to Thunder Valley, Bristol Motor Speedway where anything can happen. Who will come out on top? Find out August 30th!

Canadian Ellery takes Montreal

Montreal, Quebec, CA -- The CASCOR Super Car Series headed north of the American border Monday evening to take a break from the typical oval and scheduled an invasion on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Austin Grams started the night off earning his 2nd pole of 2011, winning the pole by over a second and becoming the only driver to run a 1:40. Part-Time road course ringer Austin Penney would start outside to kick off the Napa Auto Parts 100.

23 scheduled laps would be ran caution free as many drivers experienced gearbox issues, many having to give up what was the hoped for win as they attempted to run the track without certain gears. Tyler Ellery's only competition on the night would be Austin Grams who also experienced gearbox issues, ended his chance at a win.

Ellery would dominate the remainder of the race, leading the most laps (13/23) and winning by over 14 seconds! Justin Collison 2nd, points leader Pete Engelmanas 3rd, Grams would struggle but come home 4th with Austin Penney getting his first career top 5.

The series heads to Atlanta for the running of the Bass Pro Shops 150 on Monday, August 29th. Points leader Pete Engelmanas still leads by 40 points over Austin Grams, 80 over 3rd place points holder Mike Husby. Who will leave Atlanta with the advantage? Be there and find out!

Robson Gets Win #3 @ Sun Valley

Vernon, B.C. -- The CASCOR Canadian Tire Series returned to oval racing Sunday night at the Sun Valley Speedway.

Jordan Robson and Pete Enegelmanas led the field to the green flag. But with the track's old asphalt and limited grip many drivers were struggling to keep the power down. With 3 cautions coming out early on in the race.

Several drivers seemed to have connection issues making it difficult for the other drivers to race around them. Robson would lead the most laps as Will Goshen would give him a run for his money before the race was called at lap 100.

Robson would hold off the all charges by Goshen to win his 3rd race of the 2011 season. Goshen finishes 2nd, Auz Grams 3rd after being involved in a wreck, Pete Engelmanas had connection issues falling out of the race in 4th and Mike Husby also had connection issues falling out as well but rounded out the top 5.

With this win, Robson is now just 46 points out of the points lead bringing himself back into the title hunt. Julian Madore who was 2nd in points entering the race, fell to 3rd after getting involved in an accident early in the race.

Next week the Canadian Tire Series heads to Edmonton, Alberta for the the 3rd running of the Canadian Tire 100 at the Edmonton Street Course. The past two years have produced 2 different winners. Will we see a 3rd different winner? Find out Sunday August 14th at 8pm est!

Ellery sneaks in; wins Pocono

Pocono, PA -- The last time a part-time driver came into the SuperCar series and won a race, was, well, last week. New points leader Austin Grams has been on a roll this year, winning 5 races, 4 consecutive and then winning a fuel strategy race in Michigan. He now leads the points by 10 over Pete Engelmanas who has been on a recent bad luck streak having 3 finishes outside the top 10 in the last 6 races. Who would leave Pocono with the points lead?

Tyler Ellery made his presence felt quickly as he nabbed the pole by over a tenth faster than outside pole Pete Engelmanas. Those two led the field for the drop of the green flag and a quick start as drivers realized that the draft was going to play a MAJOR role in the evening's event.

The first caution came quickly on lap 2 as Will Goshen would slide up going into 3 and get into Bertus De Jong, collecting Josh Tew in the wreck as well. The leaders would stop as Pete Engelmanas stayed out to lead a lap and pick up his 5 bonus points, which would come in very handy later on in the evening.

Tyler Ellery would get the race lead on the restart but would quickly be halted as Julian Madore blew an engine coming off of turn 1, collecting Thomas Mohl Jr. in the incident and sending him through a spin in the grass. Mohl would make contact with the inside wall but a repairable amount, Madore however would have to end his night.

Tyler Ellery led the field to the green for what would be the last time as fuel and tires came a major part of the race adding on top of the draft strategy that was already in place. Pete Engelmanas would get by Ellery and would lead all the way to green flag stops. He would get the race lead off pit road and continue his dominance until lap 36 when Tyler Ellery would sneak by and pick up the race lead and eventual race win! Ellery takes the Pennsylvania 100 and becomes the 6th different race winner in 6 races. Pete Engelmanas 2nd, Austin Grams 3rd, Tyler Tucker 4th and Mike Husby (who took 2 tires on the last stop hoping for a better finish) would end up with a disappointing but positive 5th place finish.

Pete Engelmanas now leads the points by 5 over Austin "Auz" Grams and 45 over Mike Husby. Heading into the next race, it looks like Engelmanas has the momentum but it looks as if the title hunt is going to go into the last race and not be decided until the last lap of the year. Who will win the next chapter of what is now the drama story of the 2011 season? Find out next Monday, August 15th!

Tucker Sweeps Indianapolis

Indianapolis, IN -- Championship points leader Mike Husby entered LORP (Lucas Oil Raceway Park, more commonly ORP) with a massive 144 points lead over second place Brent Sweet, 172 over third place Thomas Mohl Jr., Who would come out with the momentum going into Pocono?

Tyler Tucker earned his first career pole to start the night off just under a tenth faster than outside pole sitter Mike Husby, who picked up his fourth straight front row start.

The night started off fast with Tyler Tucker picking up the early lead and pulling away from second place Mike Husby who found himself later in the run trying to fight off Mohl Jr. and Julian Madore. The first and which would turn out to be only caution of the night would fly on lap 28 which would allow drivers to come in and pick up fresh tires and fuel.

As the green flag dropped, Mike Husby would slip by Tyler Tucker who dropped back in hopes of saving tires for the final run of the evening. After Husby led the first 14 laps following the restart, Thomas Mohl Jr. would pass him and pull out to a very large lead. Mohl Jr. would lead the whole fuel run and 20 laps following green flag stops.

As the 25 lap to go mark approached, Tyler Tucker began hunting down Thomas Mohl Jr. who had just clinched the most laps led with 76. Tucker was able to get by Mohl and lead the final 20 laps on his way to his first truck series victory of 2011 and of his career in the AAA Insurance 150! Thomas Mohl Jr. 2nd, Julian Madore 3rd, Mike Husby 4th with Brent Sweet coming in 5th.

Mike Husby now leads by 149 points over Brent Sweet and 156 over Thomas Mohl Jr. heading into Pocono. Will he keep up his remarkable 2011 season? Find out Tuesday, August 9th in the Poconos!

Tucker breaks through; wins LORP.

Indianapolis, IN -- Heading into Monday evening's running of the Ansell Protective Gloves 150, 2010 and defending champion in the SuperCar series, Tyler Tucker, had yet to put a W on the board. Heading into LORP, Tucker had put up a best finish of 2nd with 3 top 5's in 6 starts, yet again no win. Could he pull it off in Indy?

Matt Leach earned his first CASCOR career pole but CASCOR officials ruled his qualifying lap was not up to par with CASCOR rules and was shown the black flag on the start, Austin Grams would start on the outside heading to the green flag.

Austin would pull away quickly over Pete Engelmanas, however, a little less than 10 laps in, Wesley Hoag and Mike Husby would get together, this would send Husby into the wall and tearing the rear bumper off his Chevrolet.

n the restart, Austin Grams would start over Pete Engelmanas, Thomas Mohl Jr., Ben Althen and Mike Husby but when the green flag drop, Engelmanas got into fourth gear but turned into a rolling grenade as his #4 Mobil 1 sponsored Chevy blew up. The points leaders mechanical issues would bring out the second and what would be the final caution of the night, Engelmanas would be forced to park for the remainder of the race.

On the restart, Grams to pull away to a healthy distance from 2nd place Thomas Mohl Jr. who was saving tires, as he would decide to go around lap 20 he began to slowly catch Grams tenth by tenth, however on lap 26 coming off of turn four, Mohl Jr. would lose grip and spin making hard contact with the inside wall, ending his night. No caution would be thrown and the field would continue.

No cautions fell after lap 15, which allowed for strategy to be played into hand. Austin Grams went with the fuel strategy while Tyler Tucker decided to pick up new tires and fuel.

With less than 20 laps to go, Austin Grams had a large 7 second lead but Tucker had the advantage of fresh tires. With a 7 to go, Tucker would reach Grams' bumper and begin to setup for the winning pass. 3 laps to go, Tucker would get by and pull away onto his first win of 2011 and declared winner of the Ansell Protective Gloves 150! Austin Grams 2nd, Mike Husby 3rd, Ben Althen with a solid 4th place run and Wesley Hoag would come in 5th, rounding out the top 5.

Austin Grams leaves LORP with the points lead for the first time in 2011, 10 points over Engelmanas and 35 over third place Mike Husby. The championship hunt has definitely tightened up and gotten more interesting, who is going to win the 2011 SuperCar Title? See the next chapter Monday in Pocono!

Engelmanas Wins Race and Championship

Indianapolis, IN -- The CASCOR CROW Series made its final stop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday night, with the championship title on the line. Who would pull it off? Would Andrew Hayes have what it took to close out the season on a high note? Or would Pete Engelmanas find a way to take the championship out of the grasp of Hayes?

The night would start off with the random qualifying draw putting Mike Husby on the pole for the 3rd time this season. Pete Engelmanas would start alongside.

Husby would get a decent start when the green flag came out, but Engelmanas would get by Husby coming off of turn 2. Engelmanas would go on to lead the race to the halfway mark, giving him 5 extra points for leading at halfway.

Pete Engelmanas would lead Mike Husby, Andrew Hayes and Will Goshen back to the green with 11 laps to go. Engelmanas would lead until lap 26 when Mike Husby would attempt to take the lead in turn 4. The two would make contact and Mike Husby was sent to the back of the field.

Andrew Hayes would take over the lead as Pete Engelmanas, Will Goshen and Mike Husby would restart close behind for a green-white-checkered finish.

Hayes would get a good restart, but Engelmanas would get inside of Hayes by turn 2. Mike Husby and Will Goshen would battle it out for 3rd with Husby taking the spot going into turn 3. Husby would get loose in turn four and gave up the 3rd position to Will Goshen for the time being.

With one lap to go things got pretty wild. Andrew Hayes who was running second, would get tight having to slow his car down as Will Goshen not anticipating it would run into the back of Hayes, causing the two to wreck. Mike Husby would slip by for 2nd as Pete Engelmanas went on to win the race and the championship. Will Goshen finished 3rd and Andrew Hayes rounded out the finishing order in 4th.

Although the CROW series inaugural season got off to somewhat of a rough start, the CASCOR officials are hoping the series will be stronger in the years to come. With a new crop of drivers making their names heard this season in the top 3 divisions, the CROW series is looking to have a greater season in 2012.
