Hoag survives Music City

Nashville, TN -- While the CASCOR SuperCar Series was ripping up the Super Speedway, the THL Truck Series headed down the street towards the short track in Nashville, TN also known as Music City Motoplex. Heading into the race, Mike Husby had a very large points lead over second place Brent Sweet, will he continue his dominant streak and possibly win his third straight race?

Wesley Hoag, the newcomer to the CASCOR garage, won the pole, his first in his first attempt, with his truck owner Mike Husby claiming the outside front row. The two fast Chevrolet's led the field to the green flag and kicked off a near 30 lap green flag run. Four trucks would break away from the others, those being Wesley Hoag, Mike Husby, Julian Madore and Thomas Mohl Jr., the caution flew for the first time when contact was made further back in the pack between a few drivers.

The green flag flew again with Mohl Jr. claiming the lead for the first time, he would go on to lead 47 laps of the 125, not enough for most laps led, which was claimed by Hoag who led 58. The race wouldn't be near the same as the first 30 as the "cautions breed cautions" theory really showed Tuesday evening as the field would go under 14 cautions for the next 100 laps. Most just self spins or incidental contact but one accident led to both Bryan Bell and Matt Leach being parked by CASCOR officials and facing further consequences.

The field would finally get it's last restart with 15 laps to go, Mohl Jr. led the field back to the green over Hoag who had been asking CASCOR officials over the radio the consequences of a "bump and run" would he have to use the chrome horn?

Mohl Jr. led the field for the first 3 laps of the restart until he slid up due to an increase of temperature in his right front, allowing Hoag to slip by. Hoag wouldn't look back and would get his first CASCOR victory in as many starts, winning the Federated Auto Care 150! Julian Madore needed ten more laps but wouldn't get them as he finished 2nd, Mike Husby 3rd, Brent Sweet 4th with Mohl Jr. rounding out the 5 that finished in the front!

Mike Husby increases his points lead to 144 as we head to O'Reilly Raceway Park for the running of the AAA 150, be there to find out who will be leading the points following!

Engelmanas takes Nashville

Nashville, TN -- The CASCOR Super Car Series headed to the Nashville Super Speedway Monday evening for the running of the Federated Auto Parts 150. Points leader Pete Engelmanas had seen his once slightly larger point lead decrease week-by-week until he knew he had to pull a rabbit out of the hat and get that lead back, would we see an increase in points after Monday?

Mike Husby won his 5th pole of 2011 and 3rd consecutive with a time of 29.919, the only person during Q to break the 29 second mark. Tyler Tucker would get his second front row start of 2011, claiming 2nd spot for the start.

The race got started off smoothly and drivers began to pace themselves for what looked like a caution free race, Pete Engelmanas and Mike Husby established a large lead until Tyler Tucker joined in on the lead pack, that was until Ben Wolf brought out the first caution of the evening right after green flag stops had concluded.

Mike Husby, who would lead the most laps (53 of the 113 scheduled), led the field back to the green flag. Drivers began to pace themselves again for what they would hope to be the final green flag run of the night. Austin Grams took over the lead after the last round of green flag stops and began saving fuel, hoping he would make it to the end until the caution flew once more.

Austin would have to pit for fuel and Pete Engelmanas would take over the race lead, leading the field to the final restart of the evening and not looking back. He would win the guitar and take home the trophy in the Federated Auto Parts 150! Austin Grams would take 2nd, Tyler Tucker took home 3rd, Brent Sweet 4th with Mike Husby rounding out the top 5.

Engelmanas increases his points lead by 5 more points now to 45 over 2nd place points holder Austin Grams as we head into ORP next Monday, August 1st! Be there!
