Engelmanas Wins Race and Championship

Indianapolis, IN -- The CASCOR CROW Series made its final stop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday night, with the championship title on the line. Who would pull it off? Would Andrew Hayes have what it took to close out the season on a high note? Or would Pete Engelmanas find a way to take the championship out of the grasp of Hayes?

The night would start off with the random qualifying draw putting Mike Husby on the pole for the 3rd time this season. Pete Engelmanas would start alongside.

Husby would get a decent start when the green flag came out, but Engelmanas would get by Husby coming off of turn 2. Engelmanas would go on to lead the race to the halfway mark, giving him 5 extra points for leading at halfway.

Pete Engelmanas would lead Mike Husby, Andrew Hayes and Will Goshen back to the green with 11 laps to go. Engelmanas would lead until lap 26 when Mike Husby would attempt to take the lead in turn 4. The two would make contact and Mike Husby was sent to the back of the field.

Andrew Hayes would take over the lead as Pete Engelmanas, Will Goshen and Mike Husby would restart close behind for a green-white-checkered finish.

Hayes would get a good restart, but Engelmanas would get inside of Hayes by turn 2. Mike Husby and Will Goshen would battle it out for 3rd with Husby taking the spot going into turn 3. Husby would get loose in turn four and gave up the 3rd position to Will Goshen for the time being.

With one lap to go things got pretty wild. Andrew Hayes who was running second, would get tight having to slow his car down as Will Goshen not anticipating it would run into the back of Hayes, causing the two to wreck. Mike Husby would slip by for 2nd as Pete Engelmanas went on to win the race and the championship. Will Goshen finished 3rd and Andrew Hayes rounded out the finishing order in 4th.

Although the CROW series inaugural season got off to somewhat of a rough start, the CASCOR officials are hoping the series will be stronger in the years to come. With a new crop of drivers making their names heard this season in the top 3 divisions, the CROW series is looking to have a greater season in 2012.
