Widelitz Dominates Enroute to Martinsville Victory


Martinsville, VA --
Last week the CASCOR SuperCup series visited the Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, VA. Harrison Widelitz would make his return to the SuperCup series for the 2nd time in three races at the track and started from the pole position. Mike Husby started alongside Widelitz as they led the field down to the green flag.

Widelitz would lead 108 of the races 150 laps. Eleven caution flags flew throughout the event, slowing the pace for 54 laps.

The last restart would come with 31 laps to go with Widelitz and Andrew Hayes leading the field back to the green flag. Without a caution coming out in the final laps the drivers were able to complete the final 31 laps caution free.

Widelitz would pull away from Andrew Hayes and went on to win the Virginia 150. Andrew Hayes finishes 2nd, Mike Husby 3rd, Bertus De Jong 4th and rookie contender Robby Bannister rounded out the top 5. David Damboise finished 6th with engine troubles, Pete Engelmanas started the race late but managed to bring his car home 7th, Julian Madore 8th, Austin LaPlante 9th and Chris Swett rounded out the top 10.

Tonight the SuperCup series heads to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Bass Pro Shops 150. Julian Madore holds onto a slim 1 point lead over Pete Engelmanas and just five over 3rd place Mike Husby, Andrew Hayes is also just 7 points back of the leader going into tonight.
